EDGEMONT LEADERS
Student Council by Peter M.
Every year, Edgemont has an election for president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Students must make posters to hang up around the school and write speeches to be presented on the election day. The job of president is to think of improvements for the school. The job of vice president is to fill in for the president when he/she is absent. The job of secretary is to take notes at all meetings and to report back to your class or teacher. The job of treasurer is to think of fun and creative ways to raise money for the school.
We have a new class in our school named Cosmic Studies. We know Maria Montessori built a plan called the Cosmic Plan to teach students were they came from because she felt the need for students to know about their soul. Now we also know who is teaching the class, Miss Lepari, at Edgemont. As we all know she went to everyone?s class before the Peace Assembly and talked about peace. She is the new teacher for Cosmic Studies in room eight, which also was Mrs. Plaskows room but now Ms.Plaskow is in the room Miss Lepari taught in last year. Cosmic studies will be for all grades including kindergarden up to fifth grade.
Campbell W. is new to our school. He comes from Haberfield Public School . He is in fifth grade. He is from Sydney, Australia. He has been here for two months. At his other school they teach many different languages. They have really long music classes and everyone gets to play instruments: recorders, maracas, xylophones, etc. Campbell misses the school band from his other school. His other school was quite popular, however, he is happy that we have some similar activities here. He noticed that our school is a bit more academically advanced. Campbell misses his old friends, but he has made new friends here. Welcome Campbell!
